Löddeköpinge dates back to the Viking Age when it was home to one of the major marketplaces in Skåne. In the immediate vincinity is also Borgeby castle, which also dates back to the Viking Age when there was a mighty ring castle here. The goods that came by sea to the market place in Löddeköpinge were reloaded to smaller ships at a port facility popularly know as "Lödde kar".
There is an older C14 dating of this harbour construction to the Viking Age, but the dating is uncertain. On the Lödde river, many ships have traveled and there are some wrecks of different ages in the wide river, which have yet to be explored. There are also some Stone Age remains and Stone Age forests under water in the area around the mouth of the Lödde river.
There will also be several interesting lectures on the history of the area.
